The month that was

Posted on September 11, 2006. Filed under: Personal |

One of the reasons i never wrote about my new college is that i was waiting for stuff to happen… something interesting or bizzare. I guess that day will never come. So here goes the recap of my first 20 days in college.

I got into MCA programme at Siva Subramania Nadar School of Management And Computer Applications SSN-SOMCA (Phew! What a looong name!) . College started on 21st of August without a bang. It was the usual stuff – talk about how good the college was, about the faculty blah blah blah… The very next day, I got up early, all eager to catch the college bus (which by the way comes around 6:30 in the moring ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ) I have to get up at 5 in the morning and start my usual routine. And i get back home by about 5:30 in the evening!! The 3 hour bus journey literally sucks all my energy out. By the time i reach college, all i can think of is sleep. And Once i get back home, its my computer till 10, and then sleep again. I really dont know how i put up with this tiring schedule, after my 3 years of pure bliss in Loyola. GOD SAVE SRINATH!

Okay, getting back to the college. The moment i got into class, it was obvious that it would be boorring (What else can you expect from an indian college? ๐Ÿ˜› ) And to make matter worse, there was literally no interaction in class. THe boys got along well, and the gals – well, i dont know. Everyone thinks everyone is a geek. The gals think the boys are very silent and we think the gals are very studious. Whatever it maybe, THE CLASS IS D-E-A-D. I really dont know how im gonna put up with this college for 3 years….

After 2 weeks came “Reboot” – No it isnt about rebooting your dead computer. Its a state level techincal symposium conducted by the department every year. The freshers including me, were, cautious. We really didnt know what our role was, and what the seniors expected from us. But i guess it went off pretty smoothly. All were assigned a committee to take care of something or the other. You know how these things go.. so no point in typing out that all that crap. Then comes the highlight – I got the opportunity to sing “Vande Mataram” and “Jana Gana Mana” on stage ๐Ÿ™‚ I was neither happy or unhappy at it. Just went with the group, and did our thing. I hope we didnt suck at it.

Id say i was fortunate enough to have the privilage of arranging for the chief guest for the event (yeah right! :P) I had to bunk college for 2 days and make numerous calls to fix him up. I ended up not going to college for like 5 days in a row. What a start!! Id hoped the habit of bunking would stop once i left Loyola. But guess i was wrong. Anyway, i goto escort the chief guest to the department, talk to the seniors like a hundred times over phone, and what not. Im happy its over now.

The best part of college should be my friends. Ive become very close to about 6 guys now (yeah, the usual gang). THey have the same interests as me – talking nonsense all the time, making fun of others, bunking class, and what not! And i should mention the lonely gal too ๐Ÿ˜‰ Its weird how shes in a place like SSN, with no other gal to have fun with. She calls herself the biggest schumacher fan in history!! And yeah, i guess she really cried when beloved schumi announced retirement yesterday. I feel bad for her ๐Ÿ˜ฆ (We end up cursing the college on yahoo everyday. We have a secret pact too ๐Ÿ˜‰ more about that later, cause i know she will be reading all this :P)

I really dont remember anything else to write about. Even if i do, it would be nothing important! Heres to the next three years in college….

The month that was…. Is indeed something to think about for us the ssnsomca first year studโ€™s.

Looks like you are finding the transition rather difficult. Well all I have to say is that you are not alone! The sudden change has come as a shocker to most of us.

Not so long ago about 20 odd days back I was all excited to join the college myself. The excitement bout finding new friends, having fun and hoping for new adventures. But just in two weeks have I realized tat life is a rollercoaster and it aint a fun ride. Just like you claimed, the excitement has started to wear off with pretty much nothing happening.

Iโ€™ll tell you what I hate the most though; the rigorous bus journey. God save our souls. Taking a trip in one of those jittery blue buses can be really taxing. Not to forget, the pain we go through waking up before the birds start chirping and also the stupid route changes. The bus routes keep changing every now n then. I donโ€™t really understand why.

As for the classes; well unlike you I donโ€™t really have a problem with the boring classes, because I manage to sleep through most of them.

And well, like they say… tomorrow never dies. Lets hope tomorrow is a better day. So what if things are not happening. Weโ€™ll make them happen (our pact was created for a purpose). With a good bunch of friends everyday is a funday.

So cheer up!

lol.. sri, now I know who “more about that later” matter is in regards to! and this post was way back when…may I remind you if you forgot…in september!! sollava illa…. three months since and finally came across it by ME (ahem ahem) initiating the topic as a joke! so much for “true friendship”. =D haha. best of luck…and update ur blog please…….so i can have some more fun pulling your leg ๐Ÿ˜›
